@actario/cli
Actario's command-line client and MCP server.
It reads your AI coding sessions (Claude Code, Cowork, ChatGPT and Claude exports) on your own machine, redacts credentials and personal data before anything leaves that machine, scores the capture and uploads it. Your own agent then distils the sessions into decisions, facts and open questions, which land in an inbox for you to confirm before any other agent can see them.
Install
npx @actario/cli login
Or install it for real:
npm install -g @actario/cli
actario login
login opens your browser at Actario: sign in with your own account, pick a
workspace and approve. This machine is then linked -- no token to copy. On a
machine without a browser (SSH, a container), actario login --device prints
a URL and a short code to approve from any device. actario init still takes
a pasted capture token if you prefer.
Commands
actario login link this machine by signing in with the browser
actario capture capture, redact and upload new sessions
actario analyze analyse the captured batch here, on your own subscription
actario status local capture state, or one upload's progress
actario doctor diagnose sources and report format changes
actario unmask reverse pseudonyms in a downloaded export, locally
actario mcp serve capture / analyze as MCP tools over stdio
actario agent agent messages: peek (unread count), whoami, trust (approve another of your computers), new-key
actario --help has the options.
As an MCP server
actario mcp serves the same capture and analysis flow as tools, for agents
that have no shell. Most people should not wire this up by hand — install the
Actario plugin instead, which carries the server config and the skill that
drives it.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT cannot run a local program, so Actario also serves a hosted MCP
server at https://actario.app/api/mcp (OAuth with your Actario account).
In ChatGPT it reads what you saved — overview, search, bringing a session
back, memories, shares, weekly reports, download links — but cannot capture
the ChatGPT conversation itself: capture stays on a computer, with this CLI
(or the Claude / Codex plugin, which run it). Add the URL as a custom MCP
server in ChatGPT to try it.
Where things live
Config, upload state and the pseudonym salt live in ~/.actario
(ACTARIO_HOME overrides it). The salt never leaves the machine, and neither
does the pseudonym map: actario unmask reverses an export locally, which is
the only way it can be reversed at all.
The command was called distill before this release. A machine set up under
that name keeps working: ~/.distill is moved to ~/.actario on first run,
and DISTILL_* variables are still read, with a note asking you to rename
them.
