The host daemon for AgentVox — runs on a machine you want to control hands-free from the AgentVox iOS app. It manages your coding agents (Claude Code, Codex, anything CLI) over tmux and routes voice-driven actions from the phone.

Install

npx -y @agentvox/host pair      # scan the QR in Settings → Pair host
npx -y @agentvox/host            # run the daemon

Or globally:

npm i -g @agentvox/host
agentvox-host pair               # one-time
agentvox-host                    # run

Requires Node ≥ 20 and tmux on the host.

Auto-update

The daemon checks the npm registry on startup and every 6 hours, and re-executes itself when a newer version is published. Tmux sessions survive the restart.

  • AGENTVOX_AUTO_UPDATE=0 — opt out (manual agentvox-host update).
  • AGENTVOX_VERSION=x.y.z — pin a specific version.
  • The Assistant in the app can also trigger an update via its update_host tool.

Per-agent purpose

Put an AGENTS.md (or CLAUDE.md) in each agent's working directory — its first descriptive line is shipped to the Assistant as that agent's purpose, so it knows what each one is for.
