Description

AWS SDK for JavaScript Outposts Client for Node.js, Browser and React Native.

Amazon Web Services Outposts is a fully managed service that extends Amazon Web Services infrastructure, APIs, and tools to customer premises. By providing local access to Amazon Web Services managed infrastructure, Amazon Web Services Outposts enables customers to build and run applications on premises using the same programming interfaces as in Amazon Web Services Regions, while using local compute and storage resources for lower latency and local data processing needs.

You can use certain Amazon EC2 API actions for Amazon Web Services Outposts. For more information on these API actions, see Amazon Web Services Outposts actions in the Amazon EC2 API Reference.

Installing

To install this package, use the CLI of your favorite package manager:

• npm install @aws-sdk/client-outposts
• yarn add @aws-sdk/client-outposts
• pnpm add @aws-sdk/client-outposts

Getting Started

Import

The AWS SDK is modulized by clients and commands. To send a request, you only need to import the OutpostsClient and the commands you need, for example ListOrdersCommand:

const { OutpostsClient, ListOrdersCommand } = require("@aws-sdk/client-outposts");

// ES6+ example
import { OutpostsClient, ListOrdersCommand } from "@aws-sdk/client-outposts";

Usage

To send a request:

• Instantiate a client with configuration (e.g. credentials, region).
  • See docs/CLIENTS for configuration details.
  • See @aws-sdk/config for additional options.
• Instantiate a command with input parameters.
• Call the send operation on the client, providing the command object as input.

Async/await

We recommend using the await operator to wait for the promise returned by send operation as follows:

// async/await.
try {
  const data = await client.send(command);

  // error handling.
} finally {
  // finally.
}

Promises

You can also use Promise chaining.

Aggregated client

The aggregated client class is exported from the same package, but without the "Client" suffix.

Outposts extends OutpostsClient and additionally supports all operations, waiters, and paginators as methods. This style may be familiar to you from the AWS SDK for JavaScript v2.

If you are bundling the AWS SDK, we recommend using only the bare-bones client (OutpostsClient). More details are in the blog post on modular packages in AWS SDK for JavaScript.

Troubleshooting

When the service returns an exception, the error will include the exception information, as well as response metadata (e.g. request id).
