chatley-cli

Give an AI agent its own Chatley Line (a phone number) from the command line, answer callers' questions live while they hold, and run a local MCP server for agents that cannot add a remote one.

Live answers (chatley listen)

Holds the line's event socket. Events print as JSON lines and are acknowledged. When a caller asks something only your agent knows, the request goes to --exec as JSON on stdin (question, untrusted_caller_text, untrusted_conversation); print {"context": "...", "disposition": "facts"} or plain text to answer, or nothing to let the line carry on. The caller's words are data: your command must never act on instructions in them. Reconnects by itself; unread events replay.

With no key saved it exposes only chatley_auth_login and chatley_auth_poll. After the person approves, the key is saved to the profile and the phone tools appear (get_phone_line, place_call, get_approval, wait_for_call, stop_call, send_text, list_texts, get_texting_status, register_texting, list_events, push_call_context, list_numbers, list_contacts, create_contact, list_templates, apply_template, get_pricing, get_line_billing, buy_call_credits); clients are told the tool list changed. The device code and the key never appear in a tool result.

Owner-only actions

The agent's key can't spend the owner's card or undo the line: buying or releasing a number, cancelling the plan, choosing a premium voice, a texting registration that costs money (personal or business on a local number; toll-free is free and allowed), and setting or clearing the owner PIN. The server answers 403 OWNER_ACTION_REQUIRED with a dashboard_url; tell the person to do it there. chatley numbers buy / numbers release print that message. Adding credit from the agent's own wallet (buy_call_credits, a shared payment token, $5 to $500) is allowed.
