chattermate-cli
The ChatterMate CLI for npm users — sign up, authenticate, mint tokens, and manage AI agents, workflows, and knowledge sources from your terminal. Ideal for automation, CI, and AI agents.
Same tool, either ecosystem:
npm install -g chattermate-cliandpip install chattermate-cliinstall the identical CLI. (This npm package is a wrapper over the Python one.)
Upgrading from v1?
chattermate-cli≤ 1.x was the Docker self-host tool — that has moved tochattermate-deploy. From v2,chattermate-cliis the account CLI.
npm install -g chattermate-cli
chattermate signup --name "Acme Inc" --domain acme.com --admin-email [email protected]
chattermate agent create --name "Support" --type customer_support -i "Be concise"
chattermate knowledge add-url --website https://docs.acme.com --agent-id <agent-id>
How it works
This package is a thin wrapper over the Python chattermate-cli
package (the single source of truth). On first run it launches the real CLI via
uv's uvx (recommended) or pipx run, so you get the exact same
commands, flags, and MCP server (chattermate-mcp).
Requirement: uv or pipx on your PATH. If neither is present the CLI prints install
instructions. Prefer pure Python? Just pip install chattermate-cli instead.
Commands
Everything the Python CLI provides — signup, login, token, agent, workflow, knowledge,
whoami, and the chattermate-mcp MCP server. See the full reference:

Looking to self-host ChatterMate with Docker? That's a different tool:
chattermate-deploy.
